The Tide That Doesn't Turn
TW-214 is under M.A.L.I.C.E exclusive access. The lake is monitored continuously. Personnel are on standby during expected emptying windows. The classified documents from the most recent event are held at Level 5.
TW-214 is a body of water — a small inland lake — whose water level does not correspond to precipitation, groundwater, or any measurable external input. The level rises and falls on an internal schedule with no environmental correlation. The lake is drinkable and otherwise chemically normal. Three times in the past 50 years, the lake has emptied completely overnight and refilled the following morning. On each occasion, objects were found on the exposed lake bed that had not been there before — including, on the most recent occasion, a sealed wooden crate containing documents that remain classified.
TW-214 was identified during a routine hydrological survey that produced data inconsistent with all known inputs.
