Containment Procedures

TW-178 cannot be contained by definition. M.A.L.I.C.E's entire operational mandate is implicitly a response to TW-178 and has been since the organisation's founding, whether or not founders were aware of it. The anomaly tracking rate is reviewed quarterly at Director level.

Description

TW-178 is a theoretical designation for what M.A.L.I.C.E analysts believe may be a gradual permeability event — a slow dissolution of a boundary between this physical environment and an adjacent one. Evidence: a 0.3% annual increase in spontaneous anomaly reporting globally, a corresponding increase in civilian anomaly awareness, and a pattern of anomalous entities independently using the phrase 'the walls getting thin' when asked about current conditions. No single location has been identified. The entire phenomenon is treated as a global background-level concern.

Discovery Log

TW-178 was formally classified 6 years ago after an analyst presented a statistical model to the Director suggesting that the aggregate of all M.A.L.I.C.E's anomaly data pointed toward a single coherent meta-phenomenon. The Director authorised the classification and requested the analyst not present the model to anyone else.
