TW-172 is studied via structured sessions in which the two subjects are brought together for observation. Both have consented. Neither enjoys the sessions. The manifested entity has been remarkably informative on several classified topics.

TW-172 is an entity that exists only when two specific people are in the same room. Individually, neither person is anomalous. When together, a third presence manifests — perceived by both but not visible or detectable — that actively participates in their conversations, offering observations, asking questions, and occasionally answering questions directed at it via a phenomenon both subjects describe as 'the thought just appearing.' The two individuals are strangers who are deeply uncomfortable with each other's company.

TW-172 was discovered when the two subjects, seated next to each other at an unrelated civic event, both filed anomaly reports the following day describing the same experience.
