The Weight
TW-169 is stored in Archival. Access for calibrated guilt assessment requires Level 4 authorisation and ethical review. The bowl itself is mundane when not held.
TW-169 is a ceramic bowl, unremarkable in appearance, that becomes heavier in proportion to the guilt of whoever holds it. Calibrated testing has produced readings between 200g (test subject reporting no active guilt) and 34kg (test subject reporting a specific, significant undisclosed matter). TW-169's readings have been proposed as a forensic tool on 3 occasions. Each proposal has been rejected on civil liberties grounds.
TW-169 was donated to a charity shop. The volunteer who received it could not lift it from the donation bag. She described it as 'a terrible thing to receive.' No donor details were recorded.
Incident Report #001 — Date: [REDACTED]
During a facility security audit, TW-169 was accidentally included in a personal effects check of a senior researcher. The researcher was unable to lift it and declined to explain why. The matter was not pursued further per existing ethical policy.
