Still Water
TW-129 is surrounded by a perimeter under the guise of an environmental protection zone. Entry into the water is prohibited. Entry into the surrounding 50m is restricted to Level 2 and above. No diving operations are approved. Signs warn of contamination.
TW-129 is a lake in a remote region of [REDACTED] whose surface does not move under any conditions — no wind, current, rain, or thrown object produces any ripple. The water is still to an extent that defies physics. Objects submerged in TW-129 sink without displacement until they are no longer visible. Diving personnel do not resurface. Remotely operated submersibles lose signal at 40cm depth despite the water being visually transparent from above. The lake floor, which should be visible in the shallows, is not.
TW-129 was identified when a hiker photographed the lake and the image was flagged by an anomaly detection algorithm for the impossible surface texture. Subsequent investigation confirmed the lack of surface response. Two field agents tested the water and neither returned.
