Depth Reading
TW-114 is monitored via satellite and coordinated with maritime authorities under the cover of a seismic research programme. No civilian research vessels are to be permitted within the affected radius. ROV operations require Director-level authorisation.
TW-114 is a phenomenon affecting the ocean floor in a 40km radius around coordinates [REDACTED]. Sonar equipment in this area returns readings that describe a topography that does not match any geological survey — specifically, readings consistently show a large structured formation at approximately 3,400 metres that resembles a city grid. The formation moves between readings. No submersible has reached the depth to confirm visual contact. Remotely operated vehicles sent to the area experience signal loss at 2,900 metres.
TW-114 was flagged by a commercial survey vessel that returned anomalous sonar data and subsequently reported the disappearance of their chief sonar operator, who was found 8 days later in a coastal town 200km away with no memory of the intervening period.
No incident reports on file.
