The Understory
TW-086 documents are stored in Archive Room 2. The UV source capable of revealing TW-086 text is a natural occurrence identified only once — during a specific storm event in 2021. Research into replicating the light conditions is ongoing. The 2 internal reports containing understory text are classified.
TW-086 is a second layer of information present in certain documents — visible only under a specific wavelength of UV light that M.A.L.I.C.E has not been able to replicate artificially. The understory text is always in a different language from the surface text and always appears to be a commentary on the surface text. In some cases, the commentary disagrees with the surface text and provides what appears to be a more accurate account of described events. TW-086 has been detected in 34 historical documents and 2 M.A.L.I.C.E internal reports.
TW-086 was identified during the 2021 storm event when archive room windows allowed a brief period of anomalous UV exposure. A researcher working late noticed text appearing on document surfaces that was not normally present.
