The Slow Burn
TW-081 is contained in Research Room 9. The room is kept at reduced light levels so the flame is always visible to monitoring equipment. Personnel are not to observe TW-081 for more than 30 minutes continuously. The jar is not to be opened.
TW-081 is a fire — a candle flame — in a sealed jar in M.A.L.I.C.E Research Room 9. The jar contains no oxygen. The flame has been burning for 11 years. The candle does not diminish. The flame is cold to the touch through the glass. Infrared measurement confirms no heat output. Spectrographic analysis of the flame's light reveals wavelengths outside the normal visible spectrum. Extended observation of the flame causes subjects to feel that they are being watched from the direction of the flame.
TW-081 was acquired from a deceased researcher's personal collection. His notes indicated he had been studying it for four years prior to M.A.L.I.C.E acquisition. His notes do not explain how he obtained it.
