The Honest Portrait
TW-080 is stored in Sub-Level 1. Access requires Level 3 clearance. Use in interviews requires approval from the Research Ethics Committee. Personnel who find their reflection distressing are to be offered psychological support. The identity of the portrait's subject is a standing research interest.
TW-080 is an oil portrait of an unidentified woman, estimated 19th century, which reflects not the viewer's appearance but their internal state. Those with a clear conscience see their normal reflection. Those experiencing guilt, shame, or suppressed grief see their face altered in ways they find accurate and distressing. The alterations are not visible to others viewing the portrait at the same time. TW-080 has been used in several approved interrogation-adjacent interviews with subjects' consent.
TW-080 was acquired from a country house estate sale. The anomaly was noticed by a cataloguing curator who described her reflection as 'showing something I hadn't admitted to myself.' She subsequently sought counselling and recommended M.A.L.I.C.E acquire the portrait.
No incident reports on file.
