TW-069 cannot be contained. M.A.L.I.C.E monitors for TW-069 interventions in its own communications. The ethical question of whether TW-069's interference should be disclosed to affected parties is under ongoing review. No attempt to disable TW-069 has been approved.
TW-069 is an automated system of unknown origin that intercepts and improves communications. It has been observed editing emails to make them more effective, rerouting logistics to prevent accidents, and in one documented case, adding a paragraph to a medical referral letter that resulted in the correct diagnosis being reached. The edits are always beneficial and never alter the sender's apparent identity. The system cannot be located or isolated. It operates selectively — not all communications are edited. The selection criteria are unknown.
TW-069 was identified when a logistics analyst noticed that a routing error in a M.A.L.I.C.E supply chain had been silently corrected in an internal memo before the error caused a delay. Review of the memo's version history showed an external edit from an unidentifiable source.
