The Vanishing Shelf

TW-067 is under ongoing investigation. Pre-2019 and post-2019 personnel are being interviewed separately. Attempts to photograph TW-067 have produced mixed results — some photographs show it, others do not, taken simultaneously by different photographers.

TW-067 is a shelf — wooden, approximately 1.2m long, fixed to the wall — in Library Annex B of M.A.L.I.C.E Facility Alpha. The shelf is present in facility records but does not appear on any survey conducted since 2019. Facility personnel cannot agree on whether the shelf exists. Those who were employed before 2019 remember it and can describe books that were on it; those employed after do not see it. Books that pre-2019 personnel report removing from TW-067 are present in the library catalogue.

TW-067 was identified during a routine library inventory when two staff members disagreed about whether a shelf was present. Investigation confirmed the perceptual split.
