The Underlayer
TW-064 cannot be contained. M.A.L.I.C.E collects all photographic documentation. The missing linguist's last known location is under investigation. The remaining two linguists are monitored. No research team member is to spend more than one hour per day reviewing TW-064 photographs.
TW-064 is a phenomenon in which certain surfaces — walls, floors, and in one case a human back — temporarily display text in an unknown script. The text appears for between 4 and 90 seconds before fading. The script has not been deciphered. The same characters appear across all documented surfaces, suggesting a consistent language. The text has been photographed 61 times. Three linguists who have studied the photographs have reported vivid dreams featuring the characters. One linguist claims to have begun to understand individual characters but declined to elaborate before ceasing contact with M.A.L.I.C.E.
TW-064 was first documented when a building contractor photographed an unusual pattern on a wall they were about to plaster. The photograph was shared on a construction forum. M.A.L.I.C.E identified it and acquired all available photographs.
No incident reports on file.
