The Amnesiac Star
TW-055 cannot be contained. Astronomical monitoring is ongoing. The three individuals with prior awareness of the star are registered and interviewed quarterly. Spectral analysis continues.
TW-055 is a star — catalogued by M.A.L.I.C.E as MALICE-S-01 — that does not appear in any astronomical catalogue prior to 2011 despite being located at coordinates that have been studied for decades. The star is visible to the naked eye under ideal conditions. Spectral analysis indicates it is approximately 4 billion years old. There is no explanation for why it was not previously documented. Three individuals have independently claimed to have always been able to see it and are confused by M.A.L.I.C.E's interest.
TW-055 was identified by an amateur astronomer who noticed a star in his regular observation field that he had not documented before. Subsequent examination of archive data confirmed its absence from all prior records.
