The Open Frequency
TW-040 cannot be contained. M.A.L.I.C.E maintains a dedicated monitoring station that records all broadcasts. Cross-referencing the broadcast list with global death records is an ongoing research project. Personnel are not to listen to TW-040 for more than 30 minutes per session due to reported psychological effects.
TW-040 is a radio frequency — 104.7 MHz — that broadcasts a voice reading names. The voice reads one name per hour, 24 hours a day, without repetition. Cross-referencing has confirmed that every name read is the name of a person who died within the previous 24 hours, globally. The voice has never been traced to a transmitter. It predates FM radio technology. The language used is always the listener's native language regardless of reception location.
TW-040 was discovered by a radio enthusiast who noticed the frequency was occupied by a voice broadcast with no listed broadcaster. Archival research confirmed the frequency has been active since at least 1938.
