The Obedient Door

TW-018 is stored in a dedicated room in Sector 2. The door is to face a blank wall at all times when not in authorized use to prevent accidental activation. Authorized use requires Level 3 clearance and must be logged with destination and personnel details. All TW-018 transits must be conducted in teams of two minimum. Personnel are not to state any destination without prior planning and a timed retrieval protocol in place.

TW-018 is a freestanding wooden door, approximately 2m x 0.9m, of standard residential construction. It requires no frame or wall to function. When a person stands before TW-018 and states a destination aloud, the door opens to reveal that location. Destinations have included rooms in other buildings, outdoor spaces, and on three occasions, locations that do not appear to exist in any known geography. The door functions bidirectionally — destinations accessed through TW-018 can be returned from. Objects and personnel have been successfully transported. The mechanism by which TW-018 achieves this is unknown.

TW-018 was found in a storage unit in ████████ whose owner had disappeared. Storage unit records indicated the owner had rented the unit for 30 years. Security footage of the unit's last accessed date showed the owner stepping through the door and not returning. M.A.L.I.C.E agents retrieved TW-018 and confirmed its properties.
