The Unfinished Portrait
TW-016 is to be monitored via camera continuously. When the portrait reaches 70% completion, identification of the depicted subject must begin immediately using M.A.L.I.C.E facial recognition resources. Upon identification, the subject is to be contacted and placed under protective monitoring. No method of preventing the death of the depicted subject has yet been successful. Research into prevention is Priority Level 1. TW-016 is stored in Secure Gallery Room 2.
TW-016 is an oil painting on canvas, approximately 90cm x 70cm, depicting a human figure seated in a chair. The figure's face is unpainted — a blank expanse of raw canvas. Over time, the face completes itself, rendering in detail the face of a specific living individual. When fully complete, the subject of the portrait dies within 72 hours by causes that appear natural. The portrait then fades back to blank and the process restarts. Seventeen subjects have been identified and confirmed. TW-016 currently appears to be approximately 40% complete.
TW-016 was donated to a museum in ████████ by an anonymous benefactor. Museum staff noted that a visitor died shortly after the portrait was completed. A second death following a second completion prompted a museum curator to contact M.A.L.I.C.E through an academic contact.
