The Second Shadow
There is currently no known method to remove TW-009 from an affected individual once manifestation has begun. Affected subjects are to be housed in M.A.L.I.C.E medical care and monitored continuously. Bright, uniform lighting is to be maintained in all areas accessed by TW-009 subjects to slow secondary shadow growth. Research into causation and removal is Priority Level 1.
TW-009 refers to a recurring phenomenon in which affected individuals develop a second shadow that behaves independently of their body. The secondary shadow is cast at an angle inconsistent with any light source in the environment and moves with apparent intentionality. Witnesses describe it as 'watching' the primary subject. The secondary shadow grows incrementally larger over time. Subjects who have been observed for extended periods show the secondary shadow eventually overtaking the primary shadow in size. At the point where the secondary shadow is twice the size of the primary, the subject [REDACTED]. Seventeen cases have been documented.
The first documented TW-009 case was brought to M.A.L.I.C.E attention by a school teacher in ████████ who noticed the phenomenon in a student. M.A.L.I.C.E agents confirmed the anomaly. The student was the first subject to reach the critical size threshold. What occurred was logged in Document ████████ — access restricted to Level 4 clearance.
Incident Report #001 — Date: [REDACTED]
Subject ████ reached the critical shadow size ratio during a monitoring gap caused by a facility power fluctuation. What was found in the room afterward is documented in Appendix TW-009-C. The room has been sealed.
